Hi! I’m Julia.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and mother of four! Baby Steps Maine was born from the belief that new parents deserve better emotional and mental support throughout the postpartum period. I am passionate about helping moms and families welcome their new addition with as little stress as possible. I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to birth, postpartum, or parenting choices. I am here to provide families with different ideas and information, and you get to trust your intuition as the parent. As a mother of four, I’ve been there, I get it, and I can help. I have a Masters Degree in Social Work and have also received advanced training in Maternal Mental Health from Postpartum Support International.
My goal is to help you learn to navigate through the challenges, adjust to the changes, and find more ease and joy in motherhood.
I’ve been there!
Becoming a new parent is a vulnerable period of transition and one where there is generally a lack of support. When my first child was born, I really knew nothing about babies. So little, in fact, that I remember having to YouTube, “how to change a diaper,” a few weeks before she was born. I felt like the hospital classes and the books I read prepared me for pregnancy and for delivery, but where was all the information on how to care for a baby and myself? Motherhood really rocked my world.
I was living in a new city without a support system with a colicky newborn and a traveling husband. I felt lonely, worried, and overwhelmed. I spent so much time reading, googling, and texting my few friends that had kids, only to find conflicting information everywhere. I needed direction, validation, and support.
Fast forward seven years and four kids later, that’s where I come in! Committed to making parenthood easier, I offer telehealth therapy and coaching for parents. No matter where you are in your life, if you are looking for a change, then you are in the right place.
